Where this site shows a number, it is computed from a dataset that its editorial standards name, and each article carries a record of where its figures came from. That makes the arithmetic checkable. It does not make it predictive.

Past returns describe what happened in a particular market over a particular stretch of years. They are not a guide to what will happen next, and several articles here exist specifically to explain why treating them that way goes wrong. Where a figure is an illustration rather than market history, the article says so in its own text.

Every dataset used here has limits, and those limits are stated on the pages that rest on them rather than in a general disclaimer. An article that cannot answer its own question says so instead of estimating.

Statutory and product particulars change

Tax rules, regulatory thresholds, product terms and scheme conditions change, and a confidently stated out-of-date rule is worse than no rule at all. Several articles here deliberately decline to reproduce a threshold or a rate, and tell you to check the issuing authority instead. Treat every statutory particular on this site as something to verify against a primary source before you rely on it.

Third parties

This site links to other sites, including calculators on a sister site and documents published by regulators, exchanges and product issuers. It does not control them and is not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.
